More than 100 Law Firms Have Reported Data Breaches from Law.com
Law.com obtained data breach reports from more than 100 law firms, but cybersecurity experts believe that far more firms are becoming victims of cyber crime. According to public records, interviews with affected firms, and cybersecurity experts dozens of cybersecurity incidents have been reported to state authorities in the last five years.
Reporting requirements differ across states making it difficult to discern trends, but phishing attacks, hacking, and vendor leaks represent the largest share of the identified data breaches.
Despite a number of high-profile breaches in recent years, there are indications that law firm breaches are on the rise.
