For the Fifth Consecutive Year, BlueVoyant Empowers Next Generation of STEM Workforce

The cybersecurity company mentored high school interns from underrepresented communities in coding

Baltimore, August 19, 2025 - BlueVoyant, a cybersecurity company offering an integrated cyber defense platform, was honored to team with Transforming Lives Community Development Corporation (TLCDC) for the fifth consecutive year to deliver new career opportunities to budding professionals in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Through its partnership with STEMcx, the education arm of TLCDC, BlueVoyant proudly supported exposing students from underrepresented areas to STEM fields.

This year, 37 high school students participated in the program, of which 7 were in a immersive coding camp run by STEMcx and BlueVoyant. Through hands-on breakout sessions led by BlueVoyant's engineers, the students improved their python coding skills. The interns also learned about cybersecurity from other leading companies, and took field trips to museums and colleges.

At the closing ceremony the students showcased their custom-built projects during an exciting closing ceremony. Projects included a language learning model (LLM)-driven handwritten input processor, to read and answer handwritten questions, a three-dimensional obstacle course video game, and an interactive virtual music teacher.

Careers in STEM are often lucrative and in high demand; however African American professionals comprised just 9% of the U.S. STEM workforce — a figure unchanged since 2016, according to STEMcx. Programs like this one are hoping to change that.

“By teaming up with STEMcx for five years, we are actively working to create a more inclusive tech community and drive meaningful change,” said Sangya Sharma, chief human resource officer at BlueVoyant. “BlueVoyant continues to be impressed with the STEMcx interns’ talent and passion, and looks forward to continue to help foster diversity in cybersecurity.”

In addition to BlueVoyant, the program was  supported by The Simons Foundation, Baltimore Gas and Electric, and The Annie E. Casey Foundation. Students were also able to gain real-world experience in environmental justice, architecture, healthcare, and aerospace. STEMcx participants earned more $100,000 in stipends.
